• Seeking volunteers to serve on ISBA Bar Insurance Committee

ISBA leadership is currently accepting applications to serve on the Bar Insurance Committee. The committee, chaired by Cedar Rapids attorney Phil Brooks, is currently comprised of six bar association members. The ISBA desires to add three more members with particular attention to geographical diversity, so bar members practicing west of I-35 are encouraged to apply.

The ISBA has endorsed insurance programs covering professional liability (malpractice), medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, life and accidental death. Committee members receive and review the reports provided by endorsed insurance brokers. During the upcoming year, the Bar Insurance Committee will also study whether the ISBA should adopt an association health insurance plan, commonly referred to as an “AHP,” and make a recommendation to the ISBA Board of Governors.

The initial term of service on the committee is until June 2024. Meetings for the foreseeable future will be conducted in a hybrid format (in-person and Zoom options), and the number of committee meetings over the next calendar year will be no more than three (most meetings last 90 minutes or fewer).

If you are interested in being considered for appointment to the committee by ISBA President Anjie Shutts, please contact Executive Director Dwight Dinkla at
