  • Iowa Supreme Court Justice Brent Appel to retire


    Iowa Supreme Court Justice Brent Appel has 
    announced his upcoming retirement effective on July 13 when he turns 72, which is the state's mandatory retirement age for judges. Justice Appel has served on the supreme court since 2006 when he was appointed by Governor Tom Vilsack.

    The State Judicial Nominating Commission is now accepting applications until June 17 for the vacancy created by Justice Appel’s retirement. For more information, view the official notice to candidates.
